An Important Update
Dear Friends,
In 2023, the Hanford Chamber of Commerce voted Sensory Rock the Business of the year, and we would not have gotten here without the support and enthusiasm of the community. For that, we are extremely grateful.
Sensory Rock was born out of a desire to help children and families who were in need of developmental resources to have access to those resources without fear of judgment or discrimination. In fact, the ROCK in Sensory Rock stands for Reaching Out Connecting Kids.
Two things have happened recently which are going to change the future of Sensory Rock, and because of the support we have received from the community, and from you, we are uniquely positioned for an opportunity that will have a huge impact on families in the valley.
1. Earlier this year, we began offering ABA therapy, which stands for Applied Behavioral Analysis. For parents whose children are on the autism spectrum, this is a necessary resource, one that takes time and commitment. Our lead therapist, Taylor Gaines, has over 20 years of experience as a BCBA, and her dedication to the families in her care has allowed us create something at Sensory Rock that so many families are in need of. In fact, the response has been overwhelming, and our waiting lists are growing.
2. There have been changes in the resources currently available in the community, and we find that there is suddenly a shortage of opportunities for families to have their needs met. In other words, the supply is simply not meeting the demand.
This is where we come in. We have an opportunity to offer more ABA services to the community, and to truly lean into what Sensory Rock’s original vision was: Reaching Out Connecting Kids. There are families in the valley who are desperately in need of this resource, and we can provide.
But here is the dilemma: there are simply not enough hours in the day to continue to offer the services that we have been offering the community for the last 4 years: open play, Neurorock, birthday parties, field trips, development classes, etc.
We have to make a choice to help the children who REALLY need our help, or to continue to offer the Sensory Rock you have come to know and love.
After much prayer and consideration, my husband and I have decided to lean into our original mission: to help the children and families who need our support more than ever.
Starting September 1, 2023 Sensory Rock will be exclusively an ABA Therapy provider. By narrowing our focus, we will make the futures of so many children bigger and brighter.
Effective March 1, 2024 we will no longer honor gift certificates or play passes. It has been our privilege to be a place that provides joy and hope to so many. It is with grateful hearts that we continue on this journey.
With gratitude and hope for the future,
Sheri and Jeff Tos
